This is a sculpture. My main idea was to make a boat and then float it in the big tubs of water people were using to make their paper and to see if the small pieces of the paper left behind would have any effect on my boat. I first made a paper boat which was like doing origami, and then put it in the water and let it do its thing. It floated fine and didnt sink at all. I then took the Starbucks Label off my drink, I was having that morning, and decided to make a flag for my boat and see if that would make any difference. It did. The flag was too heavy and off balance so the whole boat just fell over. After that I decided to make my boat pretty and added remains of other peoples paper scraps and stuck them on to the side of my boat.
This is a piece of paper that I found and thought was really cool. It is very thick and has a lot of extra pieces of random things in it. I really like how it is different colors and has such distinct other pieces in it.

Sketch to Sculpture
The main difference between my sketch and my sculpture is that the sculpture is 3D. This means that you can touch, move and see all angles of the sculpture. The sketch is only pencil on paper which you can only see because I would of only drew the things I saw in the picture. The sculpture also had a lot more detail because I cut out the designs of the bricks but in the picture I didnt.
The process I took to make each of these things was also very different. When making the sketch all I did was sit in front of the it a look up and down between my paper and the wall and draw what I saw. This took about 10 minuets and wasn't very hard. The sculpture on the other hand took about a week and I am still not done. I first had to cut out every piece of the main wall and glue them together, then I had to go back up to the wall and look at all the details of the bricks. After that I craved out each brick and then painted it to make it look more realistic. As you can see the process is very different and the sculpture takes a lot longer to make then the sketch.

Found Object Sculpture Reflection
Name: Elephant Man
Liza took apart an answering machine during class and I saw a old telephone that I thought looked like a trunk. The answering machine was shaped as an elephants head and so I got my idea from those two peices. I really enjoyed making my object by I got frustrated because I felt like it didnt look like an elephant for most of the time until it was all the way done. I discovered that you have to wait till your completely done to see your finale good results and almost all the time the way you want it to look it will but you have to be patience and work.
